Why does the Healthcare Bluebook need my personal information?

In order to provide our Users with a more personalized, relevant, and intelligent service, we regularly make improvements to this Site. The collection of personal data greatly assists us in this improvement process by identifying the interests and needs of the many Users to this Site. Data collection also assists us by allowing us and our affiliates to advertise products and/or services in a more efficient manner.

Although our primary goal in collecting personal information is to deliver a customized and personalized service to you, with permission, we also use the personal information we collect to (i) send Users e-mail and/or text notification of new features or information available through the Site or that we otherwise feels might be of interest to Users of this Site and (ii) allow third party advertisers and retailers, and their affiliates, offering goods or services that we think might be of interest to Users of this Site to deliver to you relevant information and offers. Users have the option to control which types of emails they receive from us. We also collect IP addresses, or the location of your computer on the Internet, for systems administration and troubleshooting purposes, and to report aggregate information to our advertisers and others.

How and what information does the Healthcare Bluebook gather or track?

Through the use of "cookies" (as described below) and from information you provide via on-line data entry, survey, product purchase and registration forms, we may collect and/or monitor, in aggregate and individual form, personal identifying facts or data on, among other things, the following information:

Additionally, we use Google Analytics, a service which transmits website traffic data to Google servers in the United States. Google Analytics does not identify individual users or associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. We use reports provided by Google Analytics to help us understand website traffic and webpage usage.

Although some of the personal identifying information may be necessary for us to deliver some of our valuable services, all of the information collected is optional with respect to use of this Site. Accordingly, Users can determine to a large extent what information they wish to submit on a voluntary basis to us.

In addition to the initial voluntary registration process, we occasionally ask Users for personal information at other times, including when they complete optional survey forms or fill out optional contact forms for additional information on particular products and services. In addition, Users are required to submit personal information to us when purchasing certain products on the Site.

We also use cookies to store User names and passwords that are supplied at registration. If we utilize cookies in connection with the collection of information for third parties, i.e., advertisers, the relevant advertiser(s) may receive electronic notification when a User views the advertisement.

The Healthcare Bluebook has implemented a number of security features throughout the Site to prevent the unauthorized release of or access to personal information. For example, we grant access to any stored personal information we may collect on its Users only to authorized personnel.

Please be advised, however, that although we have endeavored to create a secure and reliable Site for its Users, the confidentiality of any communication or material transmitted to/from us via this Site or E-mail cannot be guaranteed. When disclosing any personal information, all Users should remain mindful of the fact that it is potentially accessible to the public, and consequently, can be collected and used by others without User consent. Accordingly, Users should consider carefully if they want to submit sensitive information that they would not want disclosed to the public and should recognize that their use of the Internet and this Site is solely at their own risk. Users, alone, are ultimately responsible for maintaining the secrecy of their personal information. The Healthcare Bluebook has no responsibility or liability for the security of personal information transmitted via the Internet. We urge all of our Users to be careful and responsible whenever they are on-line.

Can I opt-out of the Healthcare Bluebook's data collection and/or distribution?

As noted earlier, the collection, use, and distribution of personal data greatly assist us in creating a more, personalized, relevant, and intelligent service. Without the use of personal data, we could not deliver our valuable content and services in the most beneficial way. Consequently, we do ask for the submission of some personal data, although such submission is not required to use the Site.

At this time, we do not offer Users of this Site the ability to "opt-out" of having their data used as described in this Privacy Policy once they have provided information to us. We do allow users to specify how the types and frequencies of emails they prefer to receive, if any. However, as discussed above, registration and provision of personal information is voluntary.

Notwithstanding the above, Users of the mobile app version of the Site may opt out of Bluebook’s future use of Google Analytics through a toggle switch in the “settings” tab.

At any time, a User may contact the Healthcare Bluebook via e-mail to request:

  • A summary of any personal information retained by the Healthcare Bluebook on such User,

What about the collection of personal information from children?

This Site is not primarily intended for individuals under the age of eighteen (18) ("children"). Accordingly, we will not knowingly collect or post information from children without parental or guardian consent. Moreover, we will not knowingly collect or use any personal data collected from children for any purpose whatsoever, including disclosure to any third party.

Does the Healthcare Bluebook disclose personal information to third parties?

With respect to obtaining certain products and/or services from this Site, we will request your permission to disclose your registration information to a third party. Where we have obtained your permission, we will disclose your registration information to such third party so that you do not have to enter your registration information more than once. Note, however, that we are not and cannot be responsible for the activities or privacy policies of these third parties.

With the exception of where we have obtained your permission to disclose your registration information, we do not disclose individual, personally identifiable data records to third parties.

However, we disclose personal information in aggregate form to third parties or advertisers. For example, we might tell an advertiser how many males between 20 and 30 years of age have visited the site over a period of time.
